A supermarket cashier in Spain, who had worked for the company for over a decade, was fired for "twerking" while on paid sick leave. The reason for her extended leave was supposedly severe lower back pain. However, during her absence, her TikTok account told a different story. She uploaded various videos to the platform, unaware that management had been monitoring her for eight months.
After the company discovered the videos, it launched an investigation. Upon reviewing her profile, they found that her dancing directly contradicted her reported medical condition and decided to terminate her employment. She appealed the decision in court but ultimately lost the legal battle in September 2021.
According to the court ruling, her dancing and twerking on TikTok were "incompatible with her ailments," justifying her dismissal. The cashier had been with the company since November 13, 2006, and had been on temporary disability leave for lower back pain since January 14, 2021. It seems that, in this case, her hips did lie.
